Why Supporting Women's Health is Important to Me

These past couple of months, I’ve been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes work in my practice—getting quiet and really asking myself: Who am I meant to serve? And what kind of provider do they need me to be?

When I first started out as a clinical herbalist, I wanted to help anyone who would let me. No matter the concern, I was just so grateful to do the work. But over time, working with clients of all ages and genders – it’s become clear to me who I’m truly here for.

I am drawn to working with women.

  • To the ones who’ve made the brave and tender choice to become mothers and are preparing their bodies for conception.

  • To the women growing life inside them, needing nourishment, care and support through pregnancy.

  • To the mothers in the thick of postpartum, exhausted and raw and healing from one of the most powerful things our bodies can do.

  • To the caretakers who pour endlessly into everyone else, putting their own health last on the list.

  • To the women in their late 30s and 40s, who are quietly noticing shifts in their moods, cycles, and bodies—wondering if it’s perimenopause and where they go from here.

I feel so drawn to support women through these transitions, and not just because they interest me, or because I’ve studied them, but because I’ve lived them.

I’ve had three very different pregnancies, three very different births, and three unique postpartum experiences. And I know these experiences are as unique as the women who experience them. No two being the same.

I’ve faced infertility and the gut-wrenching stress and uncertainty that comes along with it.

I’ve dealt with mysterious health issues and have been passed from doctor to doctor with no answers, finally taking my health into my own hands to find relief.

I’ve been burnt out from working full-time while raising kids and trying to do everything and be everything to everyone.

I’ve lived with long-term nervous system dysregulation, growing up with parents who struggled with addiction. I spent years in fight-or-flight before finding peace through therapy, lifestyle changes, and holistic practices like herbalism.

I have struggled with addictions of my own. I know just how heavy and hard they can be to face and how lonely that road can feel.

I’ve lived in a woman’s body for 44 years now—with all its cycles, phases, hormonal highs and lows, and now, the wild ride of perimenopause.

I know how hard it is to make real changes in your life, to find a better way, when it seems like everyone around you wants to stay the same.

This is not just a career for me. This is my life. And because I’ve made it through these things, I know it is possible for you, too.

If you're feeling called to make changes in your health or looking for support through one of these life transitions, I’d love for you to explore the ways we can work together. You can learn more about my offerings here and see what feels like the right next step for you.

Love,
